In my 1983 ASI, the HydroFlame heater is mounted in the bottom cabinet just behind the driver's (left side) seat. The ASI uses a larger (RM215) refrigerator than the Westy, and the cabinets are deeper. There may not be enough adjustment in the stated 21" depth for proper clearance in a Westy cabinet. I wish I had a manual for the heater! On the outside of the van, there is an exhaust vent at about knee level. The vent is also made by HydroFlame. Living here in Southern California, I don't imagine that I will use it much. It takes up too much storage volume for my liking. I would greatly prefer to have an external model that runs on diesel fuel. YMMV ;-)
