To tell you the truth, I am not quite sure how timing works. The new distributor I got has the vaccuum mounted on the opposite side of the notch in the rim, so if I turn the distributor body when the rotor arm is pointing to TDC #1(pointing toward right hole closest to back of car) the body won't turn that far because the vacuum hits the tin on the left. So I asked some mechanics and they said that I can set TDC anywhere on the distributor. I am not quite sure how to do that. Do the points need to be fully open at TDC? I live in wheaton, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Steve
