Todd, not sure from your description if this is the case...

but it is fairly common for the elbow fitting that holds the cable to break where it is bolted onto the frame the window guides move up and down on.... I fixed mine by fabricating a new bolt to install it back into place... but had to remove the motor, open it up, unwind some cable to get slack... rebolt elbow in place with fabricated bolt/nut (after several trips to the hardware store to get the right thing)... then rewind the cable on the motor.. reinstall motor, etc.... hold breathe to make sure it works....

but it involved so much work that I think it would be easier to buy a whole new mechanism if your time is worth more than your labor... I don't think the part is available by itself and even if it were you'll have to unwind the cable from the motor to thread the cable through the elbow... a job...

but like I said... from your description it's hard to tell what part you are talking about.... so not sure this applies....
