Drew's wife named the Westy "crappy".

In January, 2000 my wife and I had a beautiful baby daughter arrive at the Rusty Ranch. It was a good thing that the Art Bell crisis didnt hit as predicted or we would have been in deep yogurt. In respect for the girls safety I did what any red blooded male motorhead with hardly any money would do in such circumstances. I raced out and snagged a dry, straight and fully optioned 1968 Buick Sportwagon (Vista cruiser clone) 3-seater project. All that it needed was minor fixes and tune-ups to get it going. Well, OK maybe a bit more. Well all-right if you MUST know, it was a piece teaming with mold spores, rat poop, male cat markings and the smell of tranny fluid. <minor exaggerations for humorous effect> Just what a preemie baby ought to be exposed to. I could see the safety and comfort qualities in this potential VW Search and Rescue "splittie gitter". She saw nothing but sheer ugliness. It was begging to be tubbed, dropped and supported by Cragar Prostar wheels. =)! When I dragged it home the first two post-pardem hormonally charged words that were uttered were "For Sale!" and then she ran into the house slamming the front door behind her. No tacos that night I assure you. =) From that moment on, the wagon was refered to as the Forsale wagon. My bride was convinced that GS400 stood for gas sucker. And ah- yeah, it's gone. =( It was the first car that I've lost money on in years- since the Buick that I bought by selling my perfectly fine '83 aircooled Westy. Jim Ellis\ Still searching for a pre-66 wagon.
