Subject: Question about old and new throttle switch 90 Multivan
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

I recently had a problem with my throttle switch on my 90 Vanagon. So I went to my local dealer and ordered a new throttle switch. The switch appeared to have undergone a little redesign and I noticed that the number now had an additional letter suffix--no problem, happens now and then with Vanagon parts. Anyways I found that after I installed the new throttle switch there was no way I could adjust it because the metal lever arm on the new switch was smaller (noticeably lighter in gauge) than the original. As I would adjust the adjusting eccentric screw it didnt seem to every make contact with the metal lever that opens and closes the switch. I thought about bending that lever on the new but instead I just reused the old which I later found wasnt defective only not adjusted properly. Has any one run into this problem before? Did they bend the level on the new switch? Or is there an update in the design of the cam on the throttle shaft that actuates the lever switch.

Thanks,

Tim
