I'm with you, I would not think to use the switch in this way either but that is how the diagram he was using did it. Fuse S6 is a 15 amp so the current through the switch should be low enough that a properly rated switch would be ok. Usually we think of relays as devices for use to avoid putting the current load through the control switch but that is not always how they are used.
