I don't see anything necessarily wrong with the diagram but then some
details are not included. The switch and relay internal connections are
not shown but down below is how I would assume they are used. First of
all, which wire(s) burned? Do you have this exact part number switch and
socket with pins 83 and 83A on the back? If not, you may be shorting the
B20 wire to the Brown wire whenever the switch is on and this would be
an unfused short to ground and stuff would MELT, namely the wires to the
switch and maybe the relay. If you do have this switch and socket, test
as below.
1. Are switch pins 83 and 83A normally open and then connected together
when the switch is on?
2. Does the relay pin that goes into relay socket 7 pin 1 correspond to
the ground pin of the relay?
3. Does the relay pin that goes into relay socket 7 pin 4 correspond to
the coil pick pin of the relay?
If the above are all true, you may need to look at your wiring.
This is how I think it is supposed to work.
Socket pin 1 = ground for relay coil
Socket pin 2 = 12 volts in (from X circuit) to drive fog lights, only
present when ignition on, key not turned to start( this is to turn the
fog lights off automatically when starting).
Socket pin 3 = 12 volts out to switch, if switch is on then to Fuse S6,
and then to fog lights.
Socket pin 4 = 12 volts in to enable/pick relay, only present when
headlight switch is on, even if only to parking light position (signal
58).
Use a volt/ohm meter to check. Put the relay in with no added wiring
connected and see if the relay works and there is 12 volts at B20 only
when the lights and ignition are both on.
