I have read a post that said the plastic barbed couplings made for water pipes will turn very soft with the heat of a cooling system... that the way to go is the couplings sold at FLAPS specifically for cooling systems... though the look the same apparently they are not...

There are kits available at FLAPS with various sizes available... or maybe NAPA can order the size you need....

depends of the specifications of the lines... check with the supplier or the manufacturer... it's not just pressure to worry about... heat

Another concern with soft lines is that they will deform... a simple bend can reduce the cross section area and thus the flow of coolant....
