I lied -- more questions.

First of all, however, thank you VERY MUCH to all the listers who responded to my earlier questions. The amount and diversity of response was overwhelming. I'm still at odds about what to do; you guys have been encouraging and damning at the same time. . . . At the very least, I've learned that Vanagon owners (at least some of the ones on this list) can be very nice people!

Someone mentioned that I should try to get the price a little lower to start with and then settle for $1800. What would be a reasonable first price to offer? An off-chance, but worth a try: Anybody on this list in the Bay Area selling a small (preferably covered) truck or largish station wagon? That's what I've been looking for thus far, and have come up with a Vanagon. Go figure.

It *was* an 86 Syncro that I'd seen before for $6900 with a bad engine. Sorry for my ignorance, and thanks for the spelling correction.

Thanks again for all the responses. I'd try to get back to everyone individually, but there are so many of you jumping to answer my questions! So, a group thanks wiill have to do.
