When I did the SA Grille install on my sister Melissa's Westy we also added a relay and 10/12 gauge wiring direct from the battery for the SA driving lights. The voltage delivered to the SA driving lights was .75 volt greater than that delivered via the factory wiring harness to the 7" round H4 hi/low headlights.

As Bill points out above, this may not always be the case, but on this van the extra effort paid off. 3/4 of a volt is a BIG difference in light output.
