Yep... I use the VW fog switch to switch only the small amount of power for the relay actuator circuit... I pick up this actuator power off the parking light circuit (which is fused via the factory) so that the fog lights can only be switched on when the parking lights are on (sometimes you want your headlights off as soon as possible in a campground to not disturb others). Power for the foglights is picked up (and fused) in the junction box at the left forward corner of the engine compartment, this power runs through a relay and then to the fog lights.

One thing that noone seems to ever mention is that switches can be figured out without wiring diagrams... just use your multimeter to test for continuity between the various switch terminals in the various switch positions... simple... even if I have the wiring diagrams I always check the switch this way to make SURE I understand how it works.
