What I use (since I always have it around anyways) is bike chain lube. Shimano Slippery Spitt - even comes with the little piece of spaghetti for getting into tight places. Fantastic stuff - designed to penetrate into chain links, and wick itself along cables, etc. Comes in a little (about 2 oz???) bottle. For the price, it'll last forever.
