Original message: Before I buy it, though, I must ask. Would a 1985 be an any better bet than a 1984 (intrinsically, I mean. I haven't actually seen the '85, so I can't vouch for its condition). The price is pretty much the same ---------- I think the newer - the better. 1985 gets an easier to close sliding door latch and nicer upholstery. Nicer interior and exterior colors also. I think VW improved and refined the details as the years went on. For example: current South African vanagons use rotary dial heater controls which are easy to use, without having to read the owners manual. Gary |
