The children's programming on the local PBS station had run it's course this past Saturday. That d*mn purple dinosaur had turned back into a stuffed toy, much to the joy of parents everywhere. My four year old son wasn't feeling too well so I let him just lie on the couch and watch whatever happen to come on. "This Old House" started and I heard nary a peep of protest from son #1. I was in the kitchen unloading the dishwasher and cleaning up the carnage, the result of a 18 month old learning to use a spoon. All of a sudden, from the play room, son #1 shouts "Dad!! There's a bus like yours on the TV!" Sure enough, Steve, the host, is walking with a US Park Service ranger on a tour of the old Boston Navy yard. They stop and chat in front of a later-style, blue (maybe it was grey) Westy - probably a '88 to '91 - for a minute or so, during which the Westy is in full glory. My son was very excited about this... Alan Bosch & Phred ('88 Wolfsburg) Rochester, NY |
