Righto. I use an antioxidant grease on any automotive electrical termination which I have reason to disconnect. I think the problem with failing electrical terminations in Vanagons is not caused by the type of connector, but rather by deteriorated and missing connector boots. Just take a look in the engine bay of any 10-20 year old Vanagon. One would be hard pressed to find any connector boots in truly good condition.
