certainly would recommend getting one of these, but neither have all the information in owner's manual so they are not an exact substitute.....

you can pick these up at junk yards relatively cheap... but a junk yard that has Vanagons.... in defense of the stock jack it has the advantage of fitting into the jack mounts... a generic jack does not and will have the disadvantage of the possibility of the van sliding off the top of it... like, exactly where do you place a 2 ton hydralic jack to eliminate the possility of it sliding off???... also, I would think a two ton jack is a bit light for a Westy... I'd go with the 4 ton one :) .... and I'd recommend jack stands with any jack... especially if you're going to get under the van...
