Thanks all for the advice.  Except for the one
pessimistic reply that went something like, "Run
AWAY!!", you were all pretty helpful.  So far the
problem was that the fuel was leaking (that will kill
the mpg), and one of the headers is bad and will be
replaced shortly.  I have a couple additional
questions:

Does anyone in the SF Bay area (I'm from Berkeley)
know where to buy parts, new or used?

My reserve cooling water tank is empty almost every
time I check it even though I fill it all the time,
but I see no apparent leaks or wet spots under the
van.  Any ideas as to why the water goes so fast?
Does it maybe leak only when I'm driving?  I'm going
to fill it to the upper mark and see how long it
lasts.

My heater does not work (I think).  The fans blow but
only cold air comes out.  I'm not sure what the
settings need to be to get it to be hot.  These levers
are pretty cryptic :)  Any suggestions?  Maybe I'm
setting the levers wrong, but I tried all kinds of
different settings and it still only blows cold.

Otherwise this thing is great!  Just installed a
stereo (minus speakers).  What aftermarket speakers
can I replace the stock with and not loose the use of
my window cranks?
