Paul, there are some others on the list who I'm sure will respond and have gone as far as opening the heater box and working on or replacing the fan. Bentley gives some help (instrument panel removal, 70.5-7; front heater, 80.12-15) - if you don't have it, you'll use it on many projects. I didn't have to go that far to repair my heater, but I did recently open the dash and remove the heater, working on several other components. So if run into any specific questions up to the point of splitting the heater box, send me an email and I'll be glad to help. This is a time-consuming project, but quite possible.
