They have them and you don't. Also, it costs real money to keep stuff in inventory. Further, if they quit making them a while ago, the remaining dwindling supply will get more and more expensive until it's cheaper to make a new one yourself at which point prices might stabilize.

But don't buy one unless you need it. Have you run the tests in Bentley 24.13? If so you know whether you have 1) a good sensor, 2) a good sensor with corrosion between it and the head, or 3) a bad sensor. If the sensor tests good but you still suspect a problem in the area, monitor the voltage across the sensor during warmup -- it should decrease smoothly.

If it really is the sensor, you need a good one, new or used -- or you need to build the functional equivalent. They give you three points on the temperature curve, so it should be possible to do, but it's going to cost you more than $40 in time...
