Ok. Liquid propane in a bottle makes its own pressure which is dependent on temperature -- from about zero at somewhere around -20F to let's say 200 at about 150F. Those aren't the right numbers but they're close enough.

Some appliances (propane torches, typical catalytic heaters, in general anything with a fitting that resembles a disposable bottle) take gas at line pressure. They may or may not internally regulate it, depending.

Others, with a POL fitting, also take at line pressure, and probably regulate it -- in fact the POL fitting is typically on the regulator or a hose attached to it. Like BBQs. And like the regulator on the Westy tank. The output of the regulator is typically about 6 oz/in**2, or 11" WC.

Others, such as the Westy stove and fridge, want LP gas already regulated to 11" WC.

Others, like my furnace downstairs, want natural gas regulated to 4" WC -- or rather it takes it at six and regulates it to four.

And so on.
