Wow! I wonder what they did in Europe with the 1.9L carb wasserboxer there... something like 60hp when the FI made 80hp on the same block! Must have been a pretty poor carb design on the factory 1.9

I had a 2.1 crewcab and found that any dual port double carb set will work fine from any hot vw. The manifold bolt pattern is exactly the same. Any set up for a dual port bug motor will work fine, just dont under carb the motor. Same for the distributor, I used an 050 with electronic points, or lack of them. Engine felt more powerful than the FI, just had to reinstall for it to pass smog.
