Subject:      temp gauge lite flashing

i  have a  1988 gl  vanagon and the  lite that is  in  the  temp gauge is
taking  a long  time  for it  to go  off  in the  morning. And  the  temp
gets  higher than usual to  come  on . I have  done nothing  to  the  system
except replace the  temp 2  and  gotten the  air  out  of the  system. What
am I missing here?
