They are very similar, use the same engine (1.9l with "Digijet" engine control system). The '85 sliding door is of the new type -- they work the same but do not interchange. The '85 might be more likely to have a tach? which is very useful with manual transmission. The auto trans. is apparently more reliable than the manual all years, costs a little in mileage but people who have them like them fine.
