Paint it and Drive it! That is what cars are for. If you care for the paint job and are careful where you park the paint will last a long, long time. If you love it that much why drive something else. Our family just bought a show quality 73 VW Thing, we drive all of the time. 4 yr. olds in and out to preschool etc...it is a great learning tool. It teaches me patience and teaches them respect for a vehicle. Just because you have a decent paint job does not mean you cannot drive the car. good luck, Craig the Gorge VW club
