Our only VW dealer in the state in Arkansas's parts department stocks little
more than the Vanagon oil filters, but then it is a microscopic lot and
shop, sharing space with mazdas. Every time I have special ordered parts
from them, they have arrived the next day. Figured the high prices on their
parts helped cover the next day air charges from the Florida warehouse!
With an upcoming engine overhaul and some other work needed, I will be
supporting our list vendors in a big way and I try to spread the wealth as
best I can. I am fortunate to have the VW dealer 10 minutes from my house,
a foreign car parts house 15 minutes away, and a really savvy independent VW
mechanic within jogging distance when the Millennium Falcon III dies in the
backyard. I think I am Vanagon-blessed. Only downer is no junkyard around
with Vanagons in it. Prolly less than than 50 of them in the entire state.
