My CD/stereo was stolen from my Vanagon (speakers too) last week. I'm guessing the window did not break by striking it so they stuck a crow bar near the lower left corner by the lock and prrrrryyyyyyd the window until it popped. It bent the window jam inside and out.

Here I sit. 160,000+ miles, a little rust and a dent here and there - and wounded Vanagon with plastic over the window. Is it time to "let it go" (my fourth bus/vanangon)? What can I buy? Test drove a few things. Don't like anything. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not even (god forbid) a sports car.

If I decided to keep it, that means total rust, dent and paint job. That means $$$. That also means it is not a daily driver anymore. Part of this decision would be to drive my wife's S-10 pickup 60 miles back and forth to work everyday (bite the bullet). Then get her a another car/truck and save the Van for summer weekends, van shows and vacation trips. In the garage it goes. No more 20,000 a year in daily travel. I am asking myself: Is it worth it?

Can I live without driving my Vanagon everyday? Will I lose my identity? My soul? It just so damn fun to drive. I probably will not get my money out of it in the future. Maybe 15 more years from now? Maybe some. Does it matter? But I just can't give it up (I'm laying on my back on the couch now). Am I sick? God help me!

But then I thought to myself: "What else is there in life?" Really. You know what I mean?. What else is there? Kids are grown and almost gone. I mean hey: what else is there?

I need an asprin...i think I'm gonna keep it...I think.

Thanks for listening. Really.
