Three main bits of advice for ya... 1. Take your time. 2. Use the right tools. 3. RTFM Other than that, you should have no problems. Check out Boston Bob's paper on head rebuilds on the Vanagon info site as well. Pretty helpful. One thing that I found out. Disassemble the exhaust system while doing the job. I did my right head recently and tried [failing of course] to do the job without disconnecting the exhaust pipes. With the new head seal, the head sat juuuuust tall enough not to allow me to reconnect the exhaust. Ended up just ripping it apart anyway.... Good luck!
