Last fall, when I bought my '85 Westy & headed south of the border for the winter, before my list days, I loaded up with Fram oil filters, changing them every 3000 miles along with my 20/50 wt oil. I had no problems with my van in 15,000 miles of Mexico driving. Yesterday I loaded up with more Mexico cruising essentials-- a case of Castrol 20/50 & plenty of STP water remover & octane booster/fuel injection cleaner. Now my question is: is there REALLY any good reason NOT to use Fram filters? Is it just luck that I've had no previous trouble with them in the 22,000 miles I've put on my '85 since last fall? I always opt for the best for my beloved Westy, but don't want to waste valuable trip expense funds unnecessarily... Feedback, please! Phaedra |
