I am repairing an '87 odometer for a friend this weekend. I have read the thread about super-gluing the gear and re-fitting. Any other ways that would be more permanent? If I recall, it is a metal gear. This problem is so common, why isn't a replacement gear available? BTW, a local shop wanted $300 to fix it (in the car) and $200 if you walked it in. I told him I would fix it for free as I will be tackling my '89 Jetta's odometer shortly. Jay '85 Westy, working on '87 Weekender |
