Disconnect, clean and reconnect all of the earths for the ECU and see if that makes any difference. This is a common problem with syncros. ============================================================ From: "Hans Roos" <hans@magnaware.com> Date: Fri, 10 Nov 2000 09:45:13 -0800 To: <vanagon@vanagon.com>, <syncro@egroups.com> Subject: [Syncro] New ECU - Seems down on power now You may remember that my Syncro quit running on me last weekend and it turned out that the ECU was fried. Well, it is now running with a new ECU but it seems to be down on power. It starts and idles fine but lacks power overall. On a hill where I used to be able to hold 60 - 65 mph I now have to have it floored just to get to 50, and it is not smooth - I feel small hesitations. Before the ECU died it was running great, none of the problems I listed above were occurring. Any ideas or things I should check? It has new plug wires, plugs, rotor, cap, air filter and ECU. I don't have a Bentley manual yet (probably next thing on my list) so things to check along with how to check them would be greatly appreciated. On a separate note, what can cause an ECU to go bad? Is there anything I can do to minimize the possibility of that happening again? Thanks! Hans 89 VW Syncro
