There is a VW tech bull. no. 90-01 that came out 8/31/90 regarding
lubricant capacities. Among other capacities it gives: 3.2qt. for
air-cooled 4spd., 2.8qt. for water-cooled 4spd., and 3.8qt. for 5spd..
No mention whether this is a dry-fill but maybe not since it later
mentions that the 6.3qt. fill for all automatics is a dry-fill and that
refill is 3.2qt for automatics and the auto. diff. gets 1.3qt 90W. The
weights, specs., and types I have left out, but they are here in the
bulletin.
No explanation given why the amount of fluid in the water-cooled 4spd.
is lowered. I put in 3qt. of MT-90 and I'll likely add a bit more as my
natural paranoia takes over. I wonder if there has been another bull.
to superceed this one?
