I may have missed some earlier posting on this thread, but is there a compelling reason I'm not aware of that I should have a fire extinguisher? Are Vanagons more prone to fire than other vehicles? I've never needed one in many other types of vehicles.

I have a medium sized extinguisher (about 1.2 Liter Halon one) mounted horizontal in front of the stickshift down low. It is fast to get to and in an out of the way location. Cheers Matthew
