I just came from Les Schwab looking at studded snows for our 90 Westy Multi Van. We ski a lot and live on the Columbia river gorge (freezing rain central). I thought I saw on the list that Hakkapelita made a reinforced studded snow. I found a 4ply reinforced (1450lbs) Hakkapelita that looked nice. They are really spendy. $400 for set of four. Is there anything stiffer out there? Is there anything much cheaper? I am a firm believer in really good tires and have sworn by the Hakka's in the past. Long life and unbelievable traction. I am just trying to explore the options before taking the plunge. thanks in advance, Craig the Gorge VW club ps - I have read a lot of what has been in the archives but it seems like availability on these tires changes almost daily.
