A fire extinguisher should be standard equipment for any vehicle. I had one in my Mercury Marquis "Marquis de Sade", but the charge went dead. I have yet to fill it and put it into my '85 Jetta. You never know when your going to need one, and in a Westy, being that you have a stove and a propane gas run refrigerator, you should always have one handy. Not that they are prone to just spontaneously combust, but in a camper, you have the normal engine running, but you also have flame inside if you are running your accessories. So yes, you should have a fire extinguisher, no doubt about it.
