Dennis;
        I agree with Tom and Darrell. Replace O2 sensor. The resistor
sounds like "fuzzy math".
        Check your engine grounds carefully. A voltage drop across a bad
connection could interfere (add or subtract) with the O2 signal; just
like a resistor.
