In the past few weeks - possibly because of colder weather - my vanagon is
running terribly for the first 5 min. or so, when cold.  Once warm it runs
great.  Very consistent problem - same story every time when I first crank
it up.  I have to give it a lot of gas and rev up to 2 or 3k, or it will
suddenly die.  Plenty of cranking power, never hesitates to fire.


What is the wisdom of the List, as to what I should check, and in what
order?  (has new plugs, plug wires, timing, the basic tuneup done by a
mechanic not specializing in VW's).  I have both Bentley and Haynes and have
been searching there.  Anything anyone remembers I should look for in the
archives?
