Chris,

Judging by the lack of response to your thread, I surmise that maybe no one else has an a/c sunroof Vanagon. Pity, but I do not think that VW intentionally marketed this combination.

IMHO a/c units were shipped over to the states loose as kits with their Vanagons. The a/c units are installed somewhere in the states (either at the port of entry or at a dealer). We also know that sunroof Vanagons (although a relative few) were imported. I think that VW believed that a/c and sunroofs contradicted each other, as well as made an installation conundrum. These combinations that now exist probably do so because of some aftermarket installation. Maybe, as in your case, an industrious individual found an a/c unit in a junk yard Vanagon and fitted it to his sunroof Vanagon. I believe that the a/c unit in my sunroof loaf van was an aftermarket installation.

Thanks for asking the question. Hope that someone else weighs in.
