Dear list:

Yesterday, I took my '87 Vanagon to my trusted mechanic because I have this idling problem. It acts like it's to rich. When I come to a stop light, and then start to go it almost dies but the all of a sudden, it rights it self and runs like nothing was wrong; until I have to stop again.

My mechanic checked the connections and vacuum hoses and then said to try and run some Tecron cleaner in the gas as he could not find the problem.

I have heard that their are a couple of things to cause this to occur. The temp II sensor, the o2 sensor the at the air flow meter, the thing under the black plastic cover. Anyway, would you please send the spec's and how to check and adjust these items as my mechanic hadn't even heard of the temp II sensor.

Also, how do you get the cover off the flow meter to clean the contacts? He was afraid to force it as he didn't want to break the plastic cover.

Any other thing that I could have him to do to fix the problem will be most appreciative.

Have a great day, all.

Chris
