There is less (slightly) torque on a 1.9TD then there is on a 2.1
wasserboxer. I think you are confusing this with the TDI engines.

The parts place in Michigan had some new 1.9L blocks without heads. However
I'm afraid the low end torque will tear up the vanagon's transmission.
