I have an 83.5 Westy, and on the passenger side dash board, approximately 5-6 inches to the right of the lighter socket, but on the same latitude line, there is a small silver hole, about one inch in diameter. Upon investigation, I found a wire coming out the back of it, veering off to the left toward the steering wheel. One of the guys I work with has the exact same thing on his 83.5, so it has been ruled out as an addition that the previous owner put in. I have spoken to the VW dealership, and a VERY trusted mechanic, but no one has ideas as to what this may be. A long time ago, I spoke to someone who had a mid to late 70's bus (Sorry, I forgot the year) that also happened to be a Westy. Does anyone else have this or know what it may be for? I have been told of a light that may be in the general area, but this is a perfect circle, about half an inch deep into the dash, with a small hole going through. All I know is that it is electrical in nature. Thank you. --Paul-- |
