>Hi gang >Someone has offered me a set of magnesium alloy wheels for a good price. I have heard that magnesium-alloy wheels are a no-no for street use. They are brittle and develop hairline fractures, which corrode. Eventually the wheel flies apart on the road. NOT pretty. This was a problem with Ducati motorcycles' Speedline wheels in the earliest 80s, and the Australian distributor stopped importing Speedline-equipped bikes in favor of aluminum-wheeled ones. I have seen a Honda 750/4 with cracking mags also. Best stick with aluminum-alloy or iron-alloy (steel) wheels. Andrew |
