I beg to disagree.....the Haynes presents materials which, at times, are more user friendly than Bentley. The later Bentley manuals (1980's onward) are copies of the official VW Service Department manuals. These manuals assume that the reader has the official VW tools as well as a certain level of training above and beyond the "shade tree mechanic". The Haynes are based upon a dissasembly and rebuild of a car which makes them friendlier than Bentley.

As I always say...you cannot have too many repair manuals. What one manual stinks at, another will describe brilliantly.

BTW, if you have a Chilton manual, it has a very specific use....keep it in your Vanagon as emergency toilet paper...that's all they're worth!
