I was talking to a mechanic yesterday, when I spotted a Subaru trans lying on the floor. He said that it's not just the old Leone/Omega trans which are unreliable; the Legacy trans are bad too (we're talking about manuals here...the Subaru auto's unreliability is legend). He also said he makes a lot of money fixing Legacy turbos, and apparently the ignitors are trouble-prone also. Ans I'd thought Subarus were reliable...oh well, at least the nonturbo engines themselves are good, even if the ancillaries aren't. Having found these things out, I wouldn't now own a Subaru unless it was fitted with a Porsche trans and alternative electronics.
