Subject: SPAM - our responses outnumber the SPAM, Edit messages
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My 2 cents:

It seems that the number of responses to the SPAM that are sent to the list outnumber the incidences of SPAM itself. So the number of times that I have to use the delete key is increased greatly by these responses. Can't we assume that those who are operating the list have the requisite knowledge to do the best job possible to keep SPAM to a minimum rather than adding both to the volume of daily mail and the size of the archives.

So this becomes 4 cents worth.

Speaking of the archives - a substantial number of people send the whole message or even thread of messages back and forth in the mail. Bandwidth is gobbled up, and the archives swell. Searches take much longer and when you get your result, you often have the same messages over and over with one or two sentences tacked on.

What will the size of the archives be in another few years and how long will a complete search take when it is needed. Let's help ourselves by just sending our reply or only the essential text of the message(s) we are responding to.

Now that I have gobbled up some bandwidth and added another message to the archives, I'll shutup and really sign off and get to real work.

Sorry if it sounds too didactic.
