Andrew, I don't know what sort of Subaru you get in the southern hemisphere, but here in the US, the only thing legendary about Subaru is it's dependability. It's been my experience that some mechanic's comments aren't to be trusted, and I personally would never make a decision about owning a car based on what ONE told me. I'm putting a Subaru engine in my plane-wouldn't do it if there was ANY question of it's reliability. Larry
