Not exactly.The syncro's 1st gear is a real low "growler gear" for difficult terrain etc.Admittedly it's located in the same place for selecting but... First in a 2WD 5 speed is probably only a little lower geared than Ist in the 4 speed. At least that's how it feels when comparing my WBX 5 speed 1st to 1st in my 4 speed (A/C) Double Cab. I'm not saying that the ratios couldn't be different in various markets however...But that's how mine is.
