Chris,

I can relate to you what I saw in person with respect to the calipers. They look similar to your stock caliper but the piston is much bigger. The only think I've found is that this type of conversion will affect the height of your pedal unless you install a larger master cylinder. The best way to this should have been with multiple pistons. However, that would make them too expensive.

The speedometer ratio will also depend on the aspect ratio of the tire you are planning on using. The height of the tire sidewall in effect also relates to the total height of the tire/wheel assembly. I have 15 inch tires on my van now with 50 series tires. If anything they are slightly shorter than stock. To use 16" tires on the Vanagon, you would have to make some drastic alterations to your suspension. That is unless you are willing to go to a low profile tire.
