Seen that... in a pick and pull junk yard. Really ugly. If you do it, you need to make sure you get ALL the tin and make sure it can be fitted tightly with the rubber gaskets to the outside walls of the engine compartment. I have both an 83 AirCooled and an 84 Waterboxer... Waterboxer all the way. Quieter (relative), more power, and it seems like a better torque curve. I would think about twenty times before I did that. You also realize that the value of the van is... nada when you are finished that conversion. I suspect trying to get a heating system to work would be a major PITA. tim o'brien Javier Zavala wrote: > > Hi pals: > > As the subject says and, after reading some posts here, I was thinking > about getting an air cooled engine (which is pretty cheap and easy to find > and maintain/parts) and change it into my 84 Westy, maybe I can forget > about all overheating problems...... > > Any coments will be highly appreciated. > > Javier Zavala > 84 1,9L Westy Joker > 00 Prospector hovercraft |
