yesterday I installed an additional horn in my '82 westy. The original horn produced a meep-meep type of tone that sounded like Noddy's little car. For a few years I had a Fiamm air horn setup installed without a relay - a bit much for the stock wiring - took a second to make enough air to really parp the horn, but then the horns failed and I was back to the meep-meep. I picked up a dual Fiamm "Tipo 80" electric horn setup from an Audi 5000. When I got it back home I realized that only one of the units (snailshell shaped) was working, so I combined the meep original horn with the new Faimm baritone and I'll be damned if it doesn't sound great. They are wired in parallel, again with no relay. I found that they worked best if all of the connections were clean and tight and the horn contacts in the steering wheel were sanded. Alistair |
