Hello from Atlanta, Ga. It seems that if the lid is not loose, and you hear rattling on the lid, it is something loose or banging on the lid from underneath. Check your clearances by placing a flat board on the engine lid lip and seeing what is too close and banging/tapping on it---like a loose air filter housing.
